I love the old critters that appeared in Rogue Trader (and sometimes
after in it in Chapter Approved), so I'm translating some of them to DH
ruleset. The Catachan Devil is probably the most famous of all of them,
and for years the most feared.
Some people don't see the appeal of starting out as the boot-stompiest
leet-beaters of the known universe. They think that Dark Heresy is trying too hard to be "WFRP with laser
guns" to the detriment of its stated focus. They don't want to play half-arsed subcontractors who might one day impress the Inquisitor enough to be directly employed. The Dark Future 40K roleplaying game wants to give these people the 40K game they want.
'Fanning' is the name sometimes given to a method of rapidly firing a
single (or double) action revolver by using one's free hand to sweep
back the hammer between shots. While not the most accurate combat
manoeuvre, firing allows the firer to maintain a rate of fire easily
comparable to that of a semi-automatic weapon, and allows them to fill
a target area with significant amounts of lead.
Everyone loves a good story, especially their own. I
developed these two starter skills to encourage players to develop a character
concept and background history that defines how their character has turned out
the way they have before game start. This can be based on their experiences in
such areas as the family business, life on the street, servitude or even
hobbies or interests outside the standard experiences, but should be well
defined. You can use the Home Worlds in the Dark Heresy book as inspiration.
Once they have done this, it could make it easier to plug in all the required
information, such as characteristics, skills, traits and talents on their
character sheet.
This month in Game Trade Magazine #105 you can get a look at some of the content inside Disciples of the Dark Gods! The cover story is “The Burning Princess” by Ross Watson - Hell hath no fury like a pyrokinetic spurned in this excerpt stoked from the embers of the Dark Heresy sourcebook.
The combat system in DH seem somewhat 'bulky' for running fast paced combat, here is a simple system to use, for running combats a lot faster, while not making changes to the basic system. The core mechanic is an expansion on the initiative system with WS & BS attribute bonus that is used for combat resolution. And includes a single target number of 10 for all combat rolls.
These rules have not been tested in DH, but have been tested & edited in another House system my group uses for single / Con-scenarios, with emphasis on action and simplicity over details & numbers crunching.
Fantasy Flight Games have posted version 2.0 of the Dark Heresy errata document on their Support page. We at Dark Reign are very proud that some of our members, especially Sir Biscuit, Savage and beej67, did most of the heavy lifting on putting the new errata together. Kudos to them and kudos to FFG's Ross Watson for the great support Dark Heresy receives.
Fear is your servant and your tool, not your ally.
Let all fear while you do not. The Inquisition is feared, it fears
nothing save to fail in its duty!
