This is a fansite for the roleplaying games Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader by Fantasy Flight Games and for 40k roleplaying in general. This website is completely unofficial and in no way endorsed by Games Workshop or Fantasy Flight Games.
In our modern society, technology, innovation, and progress are
intrinsically linked in our minds. This has not always been the case in
our own history, and certainly is not the case in the 41st Millenium.
The
Imperium of Man’s attitude toward technology is one of the hardest
things for new players in this setting to fully grasp. We live with the
confidence of knowing that our current level of technology is the
highest it has ever been in the history of the human race. Further
advancement lies ahead of us through innovation and new discoveries.
Humanity in the 41st millenium, however, lives in the shadow of the
Dark Age of Technology, a time in their distant past where mankind’s
technological prowess was far superior to the technology of their time.
All the energy we put into innovation they put into reclamation. Why
bother inventing a thing if the ancients did it so much better? All
that need to be done is find some long-lost world, some fragment of the
legendary Standard Template Construct, that will bring into the fold of
human knowledge great and long-lost power.
This is my completed article on the Death World of Omega Primaris. I drew inspiration from a number of new and classic science fiction sources when designing it.
I know there is an emphasis on the Calixis Sector in Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader but I have chosen to place most of my campaigns in the Ultima Segmentum because more of the fluff I'm familiar with is there.
A GM could easily move this to the Calixis Sector if they chose with only slight modifications.
Even if you chose not to use the world I hope the homeworlds, creatures, and other things within are helpful.
I think you misunderstand me, so let us try another example. On
Vaxanide, tribes of Revertists dwell at the edges of the equatorial
wilds - outcasts fled from Arbite justice or who judge the jungle
outskirts less harsh than the underhives. They long ago merged with
older, pre-hive remnants, or formed their own feral customs. No matter
which it was.
A Rogue Trader's Warrant of Trade is a a single page, looking like parchment with one or two purity seals, the aquila and a nearly-too-hard-to-read font. It can be difficult to formulate such an official warrant. Here are some ideas/inspirations.
I'd just come up with a ritual to fulfil a specific need in my game,
which I thought I'd share. So if anyone else has some, please add them
to the thread.
Rite of the Vassal Revenant
Flatlining is the temporarily killing of a person and resuscitating them to experience the afterlife. It is normally done among groups of medicae, killing and reviving each other. The concept is well known among medicae but thought to be a legend by most. This is not officially heretical but is illegal and it is generally done in secret by groups of medicae who want to find out the truth behind the legends. It is not really a cult as each group of Flatliners is separate.
The Imperium has a plethora of orgainsations dedicated to maintining security, in civil, military, governmental, and religious shpheres. These are for the most part organisations that employ visible threat against that which threatens the Imperium.
This is a brief discussion of those covert organisations that aren't generally known. The Gamemaster can use this article as a basis for their own expansions if they so wish.
