My name is Ross Watson, Lead Developer for Deathwatch. This is the first of many designer diaries that present a number of my thoughts (and those of others on the Deathwatch design team!) about the Deathwatch
RPG. In these designer diaries, my intention is to make a solid
connection with the fans of the game, present new and exciting
information about the Deathwatch line, and have a little fun while doing so.
Fantasy
Flight Games is proud to announce the upcoming release of their latest
roleplaying experience, a game set in the grim darkness of the 41st
millennium!
This summer, Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay will charge
into the front lines with Deathwatch an experience that centres around
elite, special-missions style action involving some of the greatest
heroes and deadliest opponents the Warhammer 40,000 universe has to
offer.
Read An RPG Book in Public Week is an event that happens three times a
year, during the weeks surrounding March 4th, July 27th, and October
1st (starting on the Sunday on or before, and ending on the Saturday on
or after). During these weeks, roleplaying enthusiasts are encouraged
to take their favorite RPG rulebooks out with them and "get caught"
reading them in public - on the bus, in the coffee shop, at lunch, at
the park, or anywhere (as long as it isn't disruptive to work, school,
church, or any other functions).
The goal is to make the roleplaying hobby more visible, to get it "out
of the basement" and into public areas where more people can see it.
This will make others more aware of the hobby - some may ask you what
your book is about, giving you the opportunity to explain the hobby to
them. A few of those may be interested enough to try it themselves.
Former gamers may see what you're reading and think about the great
times they used to have with roleplaying, and possibly even try it
again.
When a huge wad of long lost starships breaks real space, the
authorities aboard a passing space marine vessel order their men to
board (because they've got nothing better to do.)
The creator of the flashmovie decided to make this after joking around whilst playing the
board game, 'Space Hulk' with friends on a rainy day last fall. After
this episode, based on the board games first mission 'suicide mission,'
hopefully he will get to animating some of the other 11 missions as
additional episodes.
In the distant galaxy of the warhammer 40k universe something odd is
happening, three new heroes arrives, which are not quite whats
expected.
Follow Artie, Leo and Gaz on their epic adventured Mastered by Ronin...
a comic created by Emil "Ronin" Eriksson about four guys with awfully
lot of spare time and a Dark heresy book! Meet all of them in "Gaming Aidz " let the heresy begin!
For quite some time there is an awesome tools available to support
rpg over the internet: RPtools. The flagship of RPTools is Maptools
which primary function is to create a virtual platform whereupon
rpg-ers can play. This can either be accross the world or at the same
table with a screen.
So, I managed to get a quick gander at the Radical's Handbook
and was sufficiently impressed that I thought that I would write a
"first blush" impression of the book since I was overall impressed with
it.
COVER & FRONT MATTER
All pretty standard
stuff from FFG. Daemons with glowing eyes, spikes, skulls, and chains.
The overall look of the product is the same as things like Creatures Anathema,
etc. For some reason I had hopes that they would spice it up a little
bit, but regardless the format is as pretty as it ever is.
