One of the interesting facets of the Dark Heresy game are the group dynamics of a cell of Acolytes. The game accomodates a wide range of player characters. Below are a couple of concepts that can be used for your PC or NPC Acolytes.
Ulric comes from the war-torn world of Kulth (sorry, no link!), where
an Ork invasion has lasted for the better part of the century, as a
child, he picked up his first Las Rifle as soon as he could lift it up.
When a group of Black Templar Space Marines came upon the planet,
en-route to one of their crusades, they singled out the boy for
training. Years passed as he was forged into a cathedral of war and, as
a fully fledged Battle-Brother he returned to his home-world, to the
very battlefield he fought on from birth.
Originally from a Space-Hulk drifting in an uncharted system in the Drusus Marshes,
Trix had to share the already claustrophobic experience of her ship
with sporadic raids from humanoid Xenos, who would take the oldest
people on the ship and make life miserable for the rest before
disappearing into the Warp.

Hailing from Spectoris, Able is an Adeptus Arbiter well-known for
having an eye for opportunity and a sense of adventure that endears him
to his superiors. He is also well-known for indulging in alcohol in a
way that does not endear him to his superiors at all.
