I was just thinking, isn't all the 9's you get from threshold tests a big downside to being a psyker. Wouldn't it be good if there was a way to at least stop this.... bare with me... i know it sounds a bit far fetched. But .......
While playing with my DH group a couple of days ago some one asked me "shawly there should be a way to stop psychic powers as a psychic power is just someone opening the warp and pulling energy from it shawly there must be a way to close that hole before it can be used" that got me thinking and so i have decided to make this power. This power means that a lvl 1 psyker cannot go up to a inqusetor lord and spasm him. which would make sence the idea of mind battles and mental damage.
Some players
have a problem with the static “spell” lists of psychic powers in Dark
Heresy. They are of the opinion that psychic powers should be less
static and defined to simulate the erratic and spontaneous powers of
the human mind.
Let's talk about psykers and their powers in Dark
Heresy. So first a full confession for those tuning in recently - I
designed the overall structure by which psykers work in 40K (loosely
based on Wizards from WFRP) and wrote a fair number of the powers, but
by no means all. What follows herein are my opinions on a number of
psychic Talents, powers and a variety of optional rules (and rulings).
Exorcism is a psychic discipline that focuses on the purification of the materium. This is more than a vision for the majority of those who follow this path, it is a way of life that has been forged through atrocities seen, all caused by Daemons and Psykers alike. To them they are humanities last hope and will stop at nothing to remove all taint of the chaos lords and the warp from this realm. This is why their highest purpose is to sacrifice their powers to nullify a war torn area. Their powers are all focused around removing taint of the warp from the worlds, and the direct results from their actions do not matter to them. They are the embodiment of the ends justify the means. Anyone who dares invite the warp into their lives will find themselves an instant enemy of any Exorcist.
Legend holds that the Emperor himself designed the terms by which
the Imperium grades potential psychic strength using an ancient system.
The following gradations are designated in one of the truly ancient
languages of Holy Terra in order of ascending power levels. None of the
grades are meant to be an exacting mark of ability, but rather, of raw
power.
Daemonology is one of the most difficult Psychic Disciplines; It concerns itself with a direct manipulation of the energies of the Warp and its relation to realspace. It is also a dangerous path, for the connection with the Warp is not entirely healthy to a human mind. Many Daemonologists have been driven insane, corrupted or perished in their studies of the Warp and how to manipulate it.
