			<title>Seconded to the Deathwatch</title>
			<link>http://www.darkreign40k.com/latest/seconded-to-the-deathwatch-2.html</link>
			<description>Becoming a Space Marine and Styles of Play

Greetings, Deathwatch fans!

My name is Ross Watson, Lead Developer for Deathwatch. This is the first of many designer diaries that present a number of my thoughts (and those of others on the Deathwatch design team!) about the Deathwatch
RPG. In these designer diaries, my intention is to make a solid
connection with the fans of the game, present new and exciting
information about the Deathwatch line, and have a little fun while doing so.

			<title>Fighting Vessels of the Adeptus Astartes</title>
			<link>http://www.darkreign40k.com/ships-of-the-void/fighting-vessels-of-the-adeptus-astartes-2.html</link>
			<description>
The Hunter-class destroyer, although based on a design long available to almost all Space Marine chapters, was pioneered primarily by the Dark Angels, whose deep distrust of other factions within the Imperial hierarchy made acquisition of vessels from shipyards and forgeworlds far more problematic than for most other chapters. As such, the Dark Angels chose the Hunter-class destroyer as the most viable counterpart to the Imperial Navy&amp;rsquo;s Cobra and maintains large flotillas of the vessel in all their battlefleets.

Fantasy

roleplaying experience, a game set in the grim darkness of the 41st
millennium!

This summer, Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay will charge
into the front lines with Deathwatch (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=1139) an experience that centres around
elite, special-missions style action involving some of the greatest
heroes and deadliest opponents the Warhammer 40,000 universe has to
offer.

What do you expect from this new game? (http://darkreign40k.com/forum/index.php?topic=3663.msg70823#msg70823)

			<title>Read an RPG Book in Public Week: Feb 28-March 6</title>
			<link>http://www.darkreign40k.com/latest/read-an-rpg-book-in-public-week-feb-28-march-6.html</link>
			<description>
Read An RPG Book in Public Week is an event that happens three times a
year, during the weeks surrounding March 4th, July 27th, and October
1st (starting on the Sunday on or before, and ending on the Saturday on
or after). During these weeks, roleplaying enthusiasts are encouraged
to take their favorite RPG rulebooks out with them and get caught
reading them in public - on the bus, in the coffee shop, at lunch, at
the park, or anywhere (as long as it isn't disruptive to work, school,
church, or any other functions).

The goal is to make the roleplaying hobby more visible, to get it out
of the basement and into public areas where more people can see it.
This will make others more aware of the hobby - some may ask you what
your book is about, giving you the opportunity to explain the hobby to
them. A few of those may be interested enough to try it themselves.
Former gamers may see what you're reading and think about the great
times they used to have with roleplaying, and possibly even try it
again.

			<title>WH40K: SpaceHulk Flashmovie</title>
			<link>http://www.darkreign40k.com/latest/wh40k-spacehulk-flashmovie.html</link>
			<description>When a huge wad of long lost starships breaks real space, the
authorities aboard a passing space marine vessel order their men to
board (because they've got nothing better to do.)

The creator of the flashmovie decided to make this after joking around whilst playing the
board game, 'Space Hulk' with friends on a rainy day last fall. After
this episode, based on the board games first mission 'suicide mission,'
hopefully he will get to animating some of the other 11 missions as
additional episodes.

			<title>Grimdark Hardboiled Inquisitorial Noir</title>
			<link>http://www.darkreign40k.com/calixis-sector/grimdark-hardboiled-inquisitorial-noir.html</link>
			<description>
Fresh From the Landing Fields
The battered mirror above the cleanser is laughing at me, the scars
upon its metal face a mocking reflection of the ridges upon my own.
Been a long time since I looked myself in the eyes, a long time away
from mirrors. Not sure I like I what I see now. Can't blame the Man for
that, though Throne knows I want to. Emperor damn him.

So here I am, me and my reflection. Beaten down again by years and what
the Man demanded from me. Still standing. Still got the job done. Still
coming back to the City. I don't punch the mirror like I want to, like
some kid would. Instead I splash the water on my face, turn on the heat
unit. Make an effort. Damned if I know who for.

Reason has started a great new 'hardboiled' thread on rpg.net. Check it out! (http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=487597) Reason has also released the first part of the Sibbelus Noir supplement (http://www.principiainfecta.com/sibellusnoir/sibellus_noir_part_1.pdf) . Download it and be amazed!

			<title>[Rogue trader] using WFRP3 dice</title>
			<link>http://www.darkreign40k.com/house-rules/rogue-trader-using-wfrp3-dice.html</link>
			<description>
So
I&amp;rsquo;m thinking of using the WFRP3 dice in my game of Rogue Trader. I can
assign suitable narrative elements for the non-combat skill tests etc,
but I need something with a bit more detail for combat. I&amp;rsquo;ve come up
with the following &amp;ndash; do people think this makes sense?

So at the request of one of my players, I built this background option to expand upon Guardsmen from Forge Worlds a bit. Feedback is most definitely appreciated.

			<title>Siracxis Death Legion</title>
			<link>http://www.darkreign40k.com/weapons-and-armour/siracxis-death-legion.html</link>
			<description>
Siracxis is a death planet and a penal colony. The only citizens that call this wasteland home are criminals of the worst sort. Only murderers are admitted to Siracxis Penal Colony, so their Death Legion is one of the most dangerous in the Imperial Guard.

			<title>New Homeworld: Frontier World PCs (RT)</title>
			<link>http://www.darkreign40k.com/new-homeworlds/new-homeworld-frontier-world-pcs-rt.html</link>
			<description>
&amp;ldquo;&amp;rsquo;Course I know about plasma generators,
an&amp;rsquo; warp-core as well. You think my family&amp;rsquo;ve always bin grox-herders?
My father&amp;rsquo;s father&amp;rsquo;s father&amp;rsquo;s father&amp;rsquo;s father, he was a rating on the Belasarro: decided to join the colonists when they dropped &amp;lsquo;em off here. Now pass&amp;rsquo;em gloves: gotta fence needs mendin&amp;rsquo;.&amp;rdquo;

The
spread of &amp;lsquo;civilisation&amp;rsquo; has taken an uneven course in the Calixis
sector, gaining only tentative footholds on some worlds and withering
on others. Simultaneously, the tech-level of many of the sector&amp;rsquo;s most
prodigious planets is by no means uniform: the great hive cities of
Scintilla, Malfi, Solomon and elsewhere give way to stretches of
wilderness containing many tentative settlements whose inhabitants hold
substantially different mentalities to those of most hivers. These
partially-colonised areas represent the outer edge of Imperial rule:
the periphery, where the reach of Imperial justice&amp;rsquo;s mailed fist does
not always extend, and where survival often depends upon one&amp;rsquo;s ability
to compromise, both with one&amp;rsquo;s environment and one&amp;rsquo;s neighbours.

			<title>Virtual Tabletop Dark Heresy Game available</title>
			<link>http://www.darkreign40k.com/latest/virtual-tabletop-dark-heresy-game-available.html</link>
			<description>
For quite some time there is an awesome tools available to support
rpg over the internet: RPtools. The flagship of RPTools is Maptools
which primary function is to create a virtual platform whereupon
rpg-ers can play. This can either be accross the world or at the same
table with a screen.

			<title>Imperial View of Technology</title>
			<link>http://www.darkreign40k.com/general-background/imperial-view-of-technology.html</link>
			<description>
In our modern society, technology, innovation, and progress are
intrinsically linked in our minds. This has not always been the case in
our own history, and certainly is not the case in the 41st Millenium.

The
Imperium of Man&amp;rsquo;s attitude toward technology is one of the hardest
things for new players in this setting to fully grasp. We live with the
confidence of knowing that our current level of technology is the
highest it has ever been in the history of the human race. Further
advancement lies ahead of us through innovation and new discoveries.
Humanity in the 41st millenium, however, lives in the shadow of the
Dark Age of Technology, a time in their distant past where mankind&amp;rsquo;s
technological prowess was far superior to the technology of their time.
All the energy we put into innovation they put into reclamation. Why
bother inventing a thing if the ancients did it so much better? All
that need to be done is find some long-lost world, some fragment of the
legendary Standard Template Construct, that will bring into the fold of
human knowledge great and long-lost power.
