The Hunter-class destroyer, although based on a design long available to almost all Space Marine chapters, was pioneered primarily by the Dark Angels, whose deep distrust of other factions within the Imperial hierarchy made acquisition of vessels from shipyards and forgeworlds far more problematic than for most other chapters. As such, the Dark Angels chose the Hunter-class destroyer as the most viable counterpart to the Imperial Navy’s Cobra and maintains large flotillas of the vessel in all their battlefleets.

While everyone loves to pilot the latest behemoth out of the navy yards of the Imperium, it's unfortunately far more likely that a Rogue Trader possesses a hereditary relic, a former hulk, a ship deemed too decrepit for further fleet use, or some combination of the above.  So here are those other ships, the has beens, the relics, and the reserve fleet stock that was drummed out of the service..

Formerly the Pious Deference of Battlefleet Calaxis, the Destroyer of All Boundaries is a Sword Class frigate currently in the service of the newly founded Odocavar Trader Dynasty. Laid down roughly a millennium ago in the sector's primary fleet yards, the All Boundaries was built to high standards, intending to serve as the lead ship of an escort squadron. For many centuries the she served with distinction, seeing combat in several notable engagements and tours, while several of these engagements resulted in significant damage to the ship, in almost every engagement she was sure to give more than she took.

Here's a ship I'm cobbling together for a possible Rogue Trader game (but mostly for fun.) The Olivares clan has too fallen on hard times, and has almost become extinct. However, an heir has been found to the dynasty's last surviving ruler, one with ambition and talent to match outstripping his young age.

Without further ado:

I've just started running a Rogue Trader campaign and I thought it might be fun and interesting to discover what manner of vessels other groups are using to take the light of the Emperor into the outer dark/make a huge pile of money.

Brief stat and descriptive writeups for four merchantmen and a Navy escort frigate.  As written, they represent the kind of convoy a major RT dynasty might be able to assemble.  With different fluff (mostly changing the owners) this could also be a convoy made up of the ships of multiple smaller operators.  Either way, they could be allies or travelling companions of the players' ship, or they might make a good target for more piratical types.
