Hi
I love this supplement, the new rules are brilliant from what i've read, however i have a couple of issues with the math on some ships. I just added up the endeavor class light cruiser and had 5 spare power and 10 spare space, using the same components as you did (although you seem to have missed the lance weapons and given it too many macrobatteries)...
Dont mean to be nasty or anything, most of its really really good :)
buckX   | Author | 2009-12-28 16:07:51
Thanks for the feedback! I went back and double checked the components on the Endeavour class, and I'm getting the same results as before. Would you mind writing out the numbers you're using? We might track down the discrepancy. Also, the Endeavour does not have lances in BFG, though the otherwise identical Endurance does have port and starboard lances replacing the port and starboard weapons batteries. Is that what you were thinking of?

Sorry, i meant the endurance  (or whichever is lance based)
I just used the basic list from the RT book, and i came out of it with more power... ill just double check...
Right with two titanforges, one mars pattern macro, and a 6 tube torpedo launcher, it has 11 power and 14 space left. Even if you upgrade the titanforgers to battery's, you still get enough energy and space (in fact having some spare)... I dont know if i've missed something, im not trying to complain, this is the only issue ive found... otherwise, as i say, very very good piece

avatar It seems to me that torps should ignore shield as this is the way they are treated in BFG and a the the fluff.
buckX   | Author | 2010-01-04 08:21:07
Ah, I see what you're referring to, I must have forgotten to add in the batteries on the list, I notice I had the 2x there where I deleted the broadsides as I copy-pasted the component list, but didn't finish filling it in. Just triple checked power and space (getting paranoid now) and it should work if you imagine that 2x is followed by "Titanforge Lance Batteries". I didn't realize torpedoes penetrated shields, as I did just a cursory reading of the BFG rules. Since railguns get stopped by Void Shields, I assumed torpedoes did as well, but I guess there's something special going on there. Ignoring shields makes the rules more manageable as well, so that's always nice. I'll throw up both edits later tonight.

avatar The Mars Class Battlecruiser & Dominator Cruiser have their Nova Cannon's strength at d6 but the weapon's description says d5. Which is correct?
buckX   | Author | 2010-01-06 19:14:02
Ah, sorry about that. I had initially made the Nova Cannon do d6, since it did d6 hits in BFG. I reconsidered and made it d5, to better mesh with the dice used throughout the Dark Heresy system, and buffed the damage from 1d10+2 to 1d10+4 to compensate. So what you should be using is d5 hits with 1d10+4 damage. I'll throw up a modified copy.

avatar This is absolutely amazing. I've already used some of this in my Sunday game. Thanks for posting it. Just one question though. Where's the Apocalypse class battleship.?
buckX   | Author | 2010-01-20 17:35:31
The Apocalypse class battleship is actually the primary reason behind the "almost" in my description. While the Battlefleet Gothic stats for the ships I included are all available for free off of the Games Workshop website, the source for the Apocalypse class, "Battlefleet Gothic Armada", is sadly not.

avatar I actually found the Apocalypse Battleship on their website. It can be found on the Games Workshop website. Download "BFG Imperial Fleets.pdf" from the following link

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?catId=cat200200&categoryId=1100007&section=&aId=4300022

It is on the second page.
buckX   | Author | 2010-01-27 19:55:02
Huh, I actually used that book as a reference. I'm sure I scrolled past dozens of times, don't know why I missed it. Anyway, I'll add it in.
Edit: Done, also fixed a couple errors
Edit: Fixed some more typos, updated to 1.1.1
Edit: More typos fixed, I really need to get more stuff right the first time. :pinch:
Edit: Mixed things up a bit with the battleships to give the different hulls some more things to differentiate them.
buckX   | Author | 2010-02-07 15:24:26
After play testing them a bit, I made some tweaks to the Grand Cruiser and Battleship Plasma Engines, as well as making a few other balance changes to various ships. Also made an important change to bombers to make them more competitive. Obligatory typo fixes as well.

This is some great, great stuff! Do you have any plans for doing any similar conversions for the fleets of other races, like the Eldar? :)
buckX   | Author | 2010-03-04 08:40:35
I do actually. I extracted all the pictures, which was the hard part previously (The BFG books have background images that need to be removed, but it goes a lot faster now that I'm using GIMP for it). Not sure when I'll get around to it, but probably not for a couple weeks, when I've gotten my fix of DOW2:Chaos Rising ;). Next ones I do will probably be Space Marine/Chaos, followed by Eldar. After that, maybe Orks, not sure.
Daedalos   | Registered | 2010-03-05 01:03:30
Awesome. If I were you, though, I'd contemplate just drawing the outlines of the ships rather than ripping the pictures straight from the books. And rewrite the flavour texts. It would be pretty sad if your hard work was "rewarded" with a cease-and-desist letter... or worse.
buckX   | Author | 2010-03-07 17:16:56
I give credit to their books at the end of the document, and they're available for free download. I'd be surprised if they get upset. If they do ask me to remove their material though, I'll happily comply.

Edit: Space Marine supplement is up, though it looks like somebody sniped me and got a very similar document up before I completed mine :P.

Made some major edits. Went through and did a couple tweaks to various ships both to give a little more variety within each ship class, as well as to incorporate the Lathe Class drives I added into a couple of the ships.

Added Lathe Class drives follow the pattern of the Class 1 in the Rogue trader handbook, slightly more power, considerably more space needed. These make the lance boats a little more viable. Also made the battlecruiser drive slightly larger and higher power, to better support the battleship scale weapons they pack.

Went through and did a rigorous audit of the space and power usage of all the ships, so hopefully they'll all be 100% accurate now.
