Red Horizon

This website is dedicated to my campaign taking place in the Dark Heresy RPG published by Black Industries. I will at times publish my own material used in my campaign. The material is based on the Warhammer 40.000 background created by Games Workshop, IP rights currently held by Fantasy Flight Games.

Using my stuff...
I have absolutely no problems with anyone copying my stuff from these pages. However please don't copy my stuff to your own website and such, post a link to my page instead. It just seems rude to take other peoples work without asking first. The pictures used here are from the Nasa web site. Contact: Feel free to drop me a line if you feel like it. Perhaps some comments or suggestions.

A few words to begin with.

Creating and running a campaing in any RPG can hard work, depending on your degree of dedication. Since I started out running my first campaign about 20 years ago, I have become much smarter. Having no clue as to where to take the game I took it session by session for the first few months. When I finally had a rough idea about the where to take the campaign, most things had written themself. And yes this was in a time before the internet. Amiga 500 was all the rage, and writing a scenario on a computer was a dangerous task, since your precious work might be lost forever to the fickle gods of bytes and floppy discs. Handwritten notes carried me far those years. Drawing, writing (by hand) and copying was the bread and butter for creating handouts.
We played Ad&D Dragonlance, Taladas setting, which was some of the better stuff created by TSR in those years. The campaign lasted little more than 3 years and it taught me how to plan and run a campaign. I still see most of the players from that time, indeed they are the players of this Dark Heresy campaign.
After a couple of years in the army, where roleplaying is hard to find time to, I started a Birthright Campaign with two different groups of players. This time around the internet was beginning to become available and computers could be trusted far more. Thus making it far easier to create stuff for my campaign. The campaign lasted roughly 4 years and we had a blast with it.
In between those campaigns we played several other games, WHFB, WHRP, WH40k and much more, but nothing really lasting, more like minor campaigns that ran out of momentum after five or six sessions, simply because people didn't have as much time on their hands anymore.
Today we aim to play at least every fourthnight, even if someone is missing.
New technology has made it easier to run games, as you can prepare playlists for background music, make slide shows on a projector or flatscreen TV. We even have a white board for specific positioning of PC's and NPC's. We haven't the time, nor inclination to paint and move around with minitures.

I have been a lazy bastard these last few months, or rather been busy with other things that needed my attention ~the wife, work; take your pick.
On the bright side I have just discovered that a new and incredible DH-site has been established: The Ordo Malleus
The site has very nice graphics that really captures the mood of the DH setting. The guys behind the Ordo Malleus site made The Malleus Maleficarum site as well, and it shows in the quality and attention to detail that has been given.

Coming up, aside from my promised stuff, will be warp stone ore, chaos weapons, a more extreme and mutation chart.

TYBOR'S RAMBLINGS:
-The stuff I present here on this site, is in every way unofficial and created by me. The main purpose is to share it with other people as inspiration and perhaps a quick solution to a writers block. For the time being I will not have much about news and such since very little is going on, and other sites seem to be handling that angle very well.
Then why don't I just post my stuff on another site, instead of going through the trouble of making my own? Simple, I want background, fluff and great stories, other sites seems to focus on rules for every little thing. I want the feel and mood of the game, the rules are a means to an end in that regard, nothing more. Unfortunately I am not a very accomplished artist, so I will not post any maps, drawings or the like for the time being. Only the Yu'Vath is a creation of mine for the time being.
Our campaign has been going for long enough for the players to reach rank 5 in the respective careers and roughly 2 years of ingame time. Our sessions are usually quite long lasting about 10 hours or so, since most of us don't see the point of playing if they are shorter.
The group consists of 5 players: An Arbitrator called Mithras, who has an obscene fetish about writing reports for his employers. A morally challenged psyker named Fabius with a serious drug problem. Harsk, a Guardsman whose idea of paradise is a place where you get free rations, beer, and a warm place to take a dump. Roth, a conniving piece of Scum always out to make quick profit legal or otherwise. And finally the Tech-Priest Cassius, who firmly believes binery is the only language worth speaking.
The group is currently investigating a strange new drug called Red Horizon that has been popping up on Scintilla. I will, when time permits, update with more info on our campaign.
